About the Artist
Hello and Welcome! My name is Daniel Ferguson and I am the owner and operator of Saltybrows Photography and Media. I am a photographer based out of Wilmington, NC. I specialize in surfing action shots but also enjoy the more artistic side of the sport. Whether you want to capture your peak performance as a surfer or a more creative portrait, I can help with both. I also shoot other types of photography including commercial, sports, and portrait.
I have been happily married for over 10 years to my amazing wife and am a proud father of 2. I am a UNCW graduate and have lived in Wilmington for over 8 years, though not all consecutively as I spent a couple of years living on the island of Oahu, and a few more back in the foothills of North Carolina. I have been surfing for over 20 years after first riding waves on the Outer Banks when I was a kid. Surfing has taken me from the east coast of the US to the Hawaiian Islands and Caribbean. I began shooting photos in late 2024 and it has quickly grown into a passionate pursuit of the perfect shot. I am very excited to combine my passion for photography with my love for the ocean and the sport of surfing!
The ocean is my source for healing and presence. It is also my playground. At age thirteen I picked up my first surf magazine at the local library and it became an instant obsession. Seeing the setting of tropical locales, the beauty and awe of the ocean’s power, and the expressions and detail of those who are able to harness it in the art form we call surfing was mesmerizing. Surf photography/magazines quickly became my favorite form of media and I feel truly blessed to be able to now stand behind the lens and capture that for my fellow watermen/women.
